Casper Aquifer Protection Plan (CAPP)
I’m happy to be working on the CAPP as a member of City Zoning and Planning. The majority of the aquifer lands outside of city land, but water is incredibly valuable and city and county both access the resource. I’m happy to say that keeping Laramie’s water clean and safe seems to be one thing that every person I’ve talked to can get behind.
The aquifer is incredibly porous meaning that pollutants that enter the area can spread quickly to other areas. Keeping the area safe must be a priority.
More information gathered on the area means that the city and county have an even better idea of the thickness and boundary of the Satanka Formation (the formation that keeps the aquifer safe) which will help guide decision-making and allow the city to continue to be considerate and cautious regarding where and how we choose to grow.
